With a crop close to 183,000 tons, the sector managed to place nearly all of its production in international markets, consolidating India, Europe, and the Middle East as its main destinations.
The Chilean walnut industry closed the 2025 season with solid results, marked by a recovery in production and a clear orientation toward external markets. According to the latest 2025 season-end report from Chilenut, the crop reached approximately 183,000 tons, returning to high levels after the decline recorded in 2024.
One of the key highlights of the season was the sector’s strong commercialization capacity. Around 175,000 tons were exported, confirming that virtually all production found a market outlet.
According to the report, Chilean walnut commercialization maintains a strong export orientation, with 95% of total volume destined for international markets.
Of the total 2025 crop, 50% was exported in-shell, 45% as shelled kernels, 4% was allocated to the domestic market, and carryover stocks accounted for around 1%.
This distribution reaffirms Chile’s strong positioning as a global supplier, with a commercial structure highly dependent on external demand.
In terms of destinations, India remained the leading market, accounting for around 16% of shipments, followed by European countries such as Germany and Italy. Turkey, the Netherlands, and the United Arab Emirates also stood out, while Spain, Brazil, and France completed the group of main buyers. Additionally, a significant share—close to 20%—was distributed across other markets, reflecting a diversified commercial base.
From a long-term perspective, Chilean production has shown significant growth over the past decade, rising from just over 70,000 tons in 2016 to nearly 180,000 tons today, albeit with some year-to-year fluctuations. The 2025 result thus marks a return to volumes close to the sector’s historical highs.
Overall, the 2025 season confirms Chile’s position as a highly competitive origin in the global walnut market, with an efficient, export-oriented industry capable of adapting to the conditions of each campaign.
