On March 12, a new edition of Nuts Working Day took place in San Esteban (Termas El Corazón). The event, sponsored by ChileNut, EasyNut Tecnología, and other industry stakeholders, brought together producers, exporters, and specialists from across the sector, from diverse countries (Chile, Argentina, Spain & Portugal).
One of the key messages was that Chile continues to hold competitive advantages that position it as a reliable origin in the global market.
According to Rafael Bianchini, Executive Director of Frunut SpA and Chilean Ambassador for the International Nut and Dried Fruit Council (INC), “in walnuts, the excellent combination of factors such as climate, soil, and water availability stands out, enabling the production of high-quality Chandler variety walnuts, along with highly competitive yields per hectare compared to other producing countries.”
At the same time, European hazelnuts continue to expand in the central-southern region, supported by an integrated industrial model that has brought stability to the crop.
In this context, pistachios are beginning to emerge as an attractive alternative to diversify Chilean fruit production. Although still at an early stage, they are gaining interest due to their adaptability to drought conditions and steady international demand.
The meeting made it clear that Chile’s nut industry is not only consolidating, but also projecting new opportunities for growth.
