Georgia’s hazelnut exports posted a solid performance in February, reaching 1,700 tonnes and generating USD 19.3 million in revenue, according to data from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture. Beyond volume, the most notable aspect has been the sharp increase in value: export revenues more than doubled compared to the same period last year (+2.2x), while volumes rose by 33%, reflecting a scenario of stronger prices and/or improved product value.
The European Union remains the main destination for Georgian hazelnuts, accounting for around 9,900 tonnes exported between August 2025 and February 2026 to markets such as Italy, Spain, Germany and France. At the same time, the country continues to diversify its shipments to destinations such as Syria, Armenia and Russia, although with smaller volumes.
This performance is part of a broader strengthening of the sector, driven by improvements in plant health, orchard management and overall quality, following years marked by phytosanitary challenges. In a context of steady demand in Europe and a dynamic global market, Georgia continues to consolidate its position as a relevant supplier in the international hazelnut trade.
