The third edition of MEWA India, organized by the Nuts & Dry Fruits Council of India, was held from January 23 to 25, 2026, in Dwarka, New Delhi—one of the most modern districts of the Indian capital—consolidating its place as one of the leading B2B gatherings for the global nuts and dried fruits ecosystem.
The event brought together more than 10,000 professional visitors, 300 exhibitors, and delegations from over 30 countries. This edition stood out particularly for the participation of the International Nut & Dried Fruit Council (INC), as well as organizations from the United States, South America, the Middle East, Europe, Central Asia, and Australia such as the Almond Board of California, Almond Board of Australia, Chilenut, among other industry associations, giving strong international backing to the event.
A strengthened sector and new regulatory advances
At MEWA India 2026, the decisive role of the NDFC(I) in reducing the Goods and Services Tax (GST) —from 12% to 5%— for nuts and dried fruits was highlighted. This measure is already boosting consumption and improving household access to these products in India.
The fair continued the council’s efforts to modernize the sector through sustainability initiatives, support for growers and FPOs (Farmers’ Producer Organizations), and improvements in pre- and post-harvest practices. The cashew plantation drive in Moodabidri (Karnataka) and the walnut plantation drive in Chakrata (Uttarakhand) were showcased as examples of encouraging climate-resilient crops.
Health and responsible consumption
MEWA India 2026 incorporated public health priorities through panels dedicated to cardiovascular health, diabetes prevention, child nutrition, and smart snacking habits. This approach aimed to connect the production chain with healthy-consumption trends that are transforming the global nutrition market.
A central space for women’s leadership
The event further reinforced the leading role of women in the nuts sector, one of the most labor-intensive for female workers in India. Women entrepreneurs, self-help groups, and emerging business leaders participated in specialized forums and capacity-building sessions designed to strengthen their presence across the value chain.
With this edition, MEWA India reaffirmed the country’s position as a global hub for trade, innovation, and sustainability in nuts and dried fruits—integrating producers, processors, technologists, retailers, and policymakers into a platform that strengthens the entire value chain. Altogether, it reflects the dynamism and recent growth of India’s nuts and dried fruits market.
