Initial reports indicate damage such as leaf bronzing and shoot desiccation, with no evidence so far of widespread impact on reproductive organs. However, the final outcome—particularly for the 2026 crop—still needs to be assessed in the coming weeks.
The most affected areas are concentrated in Asti, Cuneo, and parts of Alessandria, with highly variable damage depending on microclimate, exposure, and topography. Low-lying, poorly ventilated areas have been the most vulnerable.
The event corresponded to a mixed frost, with cold, dry air of Arctic or Siberian origin, temperatures dropping to -3°C to -4°C, and low humidity—conditions that intensify damage to plant tissues.
