The latest update from the International Nut and Dried Fruit Council — March 2026 — shows a heterogeneous scenario by category, with increased supply in some products and a market that remains attentive to demand behavior.
The global nuts market enters 2026 without a single clear trend. The latest INC report confirms that each category is evolving differently, depending on its own balance between production, inventories, and consumption.
In cashews, global production is expected to reach a record of करीब 6.4 million tons, supported by a demand base that has remained firm, particularly in India and Vietnam. However, the start of the year has been slower in the United States and Europe, where buyers have opted to wait for greater clarity on the new crop.
Walnuts present a more fragmented scenario. In China, lower production combined with active demand has pushed prices upward, with increases of between 20% and 30% compared to the previous year. In the United States, despite low initial inventories, shipments have shown strong momentum. Chile, meanwhile, is projected to have a more stable season, at around 170,000 tons.
In hazelnuts, Turkey continues to set the pace in the global market. While production remains significant, quality has been inconsistent and demand weaker, opening the door to a potential increase in stocks if consumption does not recover in the coming months.
Macadamias, for their part, are showing signs of recovery after a challenging 2025 season. Projections in China, South Africa, and Australia point to improved volumes, which could contribute to a more balanced market.
A different situation is faced by Brazil nuts, where lower raw material availability and exchange rate factors have pushed prices upward, generating caution in the market. Demand remains active in the short term, but uncertainty lies ahead if prices stay at elevated levels.
